An open letter to the U.S. Congress

No Presidential Vendettas

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The directives targeting former officials Christopher Krebs and Miles Taylor over their criticism of the President raise concerning issues about retaliation against dissent. Revoking security clearances and ordering investigations against individuals who aired valid concerns related to election processes and presidential conduct seems like an abuse of power for personal vindictiveness. This undermines principles of free speech and sends a chilling message about consequences for diverging from the President's stance, even on matters of public interest. Instead of such punitive actions, the President should welcome scrutiny and differing perspectives as vital for democracy and accountability. I urge reconsideration of these directives that appear motivated by personal grievances rather than legitimate national security grounds. Public servants must be able to voice fact-based concerns without fear of retaliation. Protecting that ability is crucial for maintaining checks and balances within our institutions.
