Investigate Senate President Adams for MIDA Ethics Violations

The Senate Ethics Committee must immediately investigate Senate President Adams for conflicts of interest related to his role as chair of the Military Installation Development Authority. On May 1st, his PAC received five donations totaling $135,000 from five entities with active MIDA business, all on the same day. This happened just seven days after MIDA approved a 40,000 square foot data center in Box Elder County. Those donations nearly doubled his PAC's cash on hand. This is a textbook conflict of interest. The chair of MIDA is collecting donations from the very projects he oversees. Public authorities like MIDA wield enormous power with the expectation they will benefit Utahns, not enrich the officials running them. When personal financial interests enter the picture, that trust collapses. This isn't Adams' first ethics problem. Last year he allegedly used his position to change the law in a backroom deal to benefit a family member accused of a crime. He's faced accusations of campaign finance violations. He took a free trip from the Qatari government. The pattern is clear. Utah deserves transparency and accountability. Investigate whether Adams violated ethics rules, campaign finance laws, or abused his MIDA position for personal gain.
