The man whom your party is poised to elect as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives supported the Jan. 6, 2021, attempt to overturn the 2020 election. This is abhorrent. Free and fair elections and the peaceful transfer of power are cornerstones of our democracy. If you support Jim Jordan for Speaker, you will be rewarding an insurrectionist, and I will have no choice but to believe that you, too, believe that undermining elections and overthrowing a duly elected government are acceptable. As your constituent, I will be watching for you to show me who you are and what you believe.
