Lift hiring freeze and freeze on international aid

Two of the executive actions taken by the new administration are causing immediate and lasting harm directly to people. They are the hiring freeze and the freeze on international aid. The hiring freeze is causing harm both to our citizens who thought they had a job and counted on it starting for their economic stability, as well as to our agencies’ ability to function. I know the administration appears to revel in breaking things, but I hope at least Congress can see where this is bad for those they represent. The freeze on international aid hurts people directly as they starve or die of preventable diseases. It also hurts our standing in the world, and our citizens protection from those preventable diseases. China will step in and take the goodwill and influence happily. The hiring freeze and freeze on international aid should be immediately lifted.
