We The People Call An Article V Convention To Draft A Modern Constitution

I respectfully request that the state legislature formally apply to the United States Congress for an Article V constitutional convention.
The Constitution provides this mechanism so that the people—through their state governments—may initiate fundamental reforms.
Our Constitution was designed to be adaptable to the evolving needs of the American people. An Article V convention offers a constitutionally authorized, democratic path to enact the changes that many of us believe are essential for a stronger, more resilient union.
Today, the nation faces a set of urgent challenges that require us to consider the following constitutional updates:
A balanced‑budget amendment
Abolish the Electoral College
Protect voting rights
Mandate independent redistricting commissions
Impose term limits on politicians and federal judges
Enact a Digital Rights Amendment to safeguard citizens in the Information Age
Second Amendment reform to permit common sense regulation of weapons
Affirm the right to universal health care, including the right to reproductive liberty
A wall separating political power and wealth and a bar against oligarchs serving in government or giving money to politicians
Transfer the President’s executive emergency authority to Congress
A mechanism to remove the President through referendum or recall vote by the people
This list is just the beginning of a national discussion. There will be vigorous debate, and not everyone will agree with the items on this list. Citizens are invited to think carefully about how they, as We The People, wish to govern themselves. Circulate your own petitions.
Because it’s time We The People start talking to each other about the kind of government we want and the conditions under which we’re willing—and unwilling—to live.
By joining the growing coalition of states that have already submitted applications, our state can help reach the two‑thirds (34‑state) threshold required for Congress to call a convention.
I ask the legislature to pass a resolution that officially applies to Congress for a convention of the states under Article V of the U.S. Constitution.
I trust that you will give this request the serious consideration it deserves and act promptly to place our state among the states leading this historic effort.
