And NO on S. 2967 Re HR 140: Do not allow our public lands, a shared, priceless legacy, to be bulldozed, ruined and permanently contaminated by copper sulphide mining's forever pollution. It is especially troubling that the mining venture that would snatch the profit from this scheme is owned by a Chilean who has links to Jared and Ivanka Kushner - he would get the profits and the processing would be done in China. Remember that the Boundary Waters, America's most visited public lands, bring in more money annually from tourism than will be made from one-off ruinous mining. They are our lands, legacy, and heritage to pass to the future not to wreck for short term foreign private profit. Re S 2967: Stop S. 2967 from Bulldozing Our Public Lands! The Border Lands Conservation Act (S. 2967) is the latest attack on the Boundary Waters: it would give DHS the power to build roads, walls, and surveillance in areas within 100 miles of Minnesota’s northern border. This bill of Mike Lee (R-UT) guts the Wilderness Act. It would potentially allow (DHS) to build roads, land aircraft, and install surveillance technology across America's entire 112 million-acre National Wilderness Preservation System. Specifically, Senator Lee's so-called "Border Lands Conservation Act" (S. 2967) would allow DHS to do the following in Wilderness areas across the entire country: • Construct and maintain roads and physical barriers. • Deploy tactical infrastructure and technology in Wilderness, including observation points, remote video surveillance systems, motion sensors, vehicle barriers, fences, roads, bridges, drainages, and detection devices. • Use motor vehicles, motorboats, and motorized equipment. • Use aircraft, including landings and takeoffs. Americans have had enough of ICE abuse, violence, terror, concentration camps and mass deportations. Don't wreck our wilderness to allow more ICE abuse of the constitution. Minnesota's twin cities have already suffered terriblg from Trump's Gestapo. DO NOT NOW allow ICE to rape and pillage our shared sacred heritage of national lands, unspoiled nature. PLEASE VOTE NO on S. 2967. When they come up, please support and vote for the legislation that will PROTECT the Boundary Waters: Rep. Betty McCollum’s bill (H.R. 588) and Sen Tina Smith’s bill (S. 1366) would permanently protect the more than 225,000 acres of public land next to the Boundary Waters for your descendants.
