An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Please introduce or co-sponsor a 'No Secret Police' Act for our state

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I read in the news that the FBI recently issued a national bulletin warning that criminals are impersonating ICE agents. Kidnappings, robberies, and even assaults are happening putting innocent citizens, especially children, women and minorities in direct danger to abduction and assault (E.g. physical violence, medical endangerment, and sexual assault). California lawmakers just passed SB 627, the “No Secret Police Act,” which would make it illegal for law enforcement to hide their identities while on duty in the state. This will ban law enforcement from using face coverings and require clear identification for law enforcement in California. If ICE agents are working under the law and have nothing to hide then they should have nothing to fear. We need public accountability just as much as genuine and authorized officer safety. Please introduce or co-sponsor a 'No Secret Police' Act for our state. Thank you.
