Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Even though it is the most perfect west Texas morning outside, I made the mistake of ruining it by perusing headlines with my coffee.
As a constituent, one whose vote gets closer and closer to turning Texas back to blue, you should know that the last thing the majority of America is looking for with a new day dawning in Washington is more Republican obstructionism. We are sick and tired of it.
Before Mr. Biden is even sworn in your factions are plotting ways to make him fail. Or to at least make him spin his wheels until they fall off.
And what good does that do our country right now? We the people could give a rat’s ass about whatever petty political vendettas are going on. Vendettas that are not important right now. Your only focus should be on helping the country get back on its feet after four years of chaos and months of a raging pandemic all but ignored by our leaders.
I see an incoming administration behaving like leaders. I see careful vetting. Reasonable discourse. Hopeful plans. Reassuring rhetoric. And a promise of cooperation.
And what do I get to read from one of my senator’s offices?
“Other Republicans focused their ire on [Neera] Tanden, who will need to be approved by the Senate to take on her job. [nominated for Office of Budget & Management] Drew Brandewie, the communications director for Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.), said via Twitter that she ‘faces zero chance of being confirmed’ because of her critiques of GOP senators. …”
Critiques of GOP senators? Are you serious? And yet you would move heaven and earth to get Mr. Trump back in office. He of the itchy Twitter finger, who can bring you and yours to your knees with just a few words.
This takes the cake. I wish I knew more words for hypocrisy. But for right now I’ll have to settle for GOP Congress.
Y’all best get yourselves together and think about America for a change instead of whatever inbreed, incestuous political theater you’re planning.
We demand, deserve, and expect better.
