I strongly oppose H.R. 792, which directs the Secretary of the Interior to carve a figure of President Trump into Mount Rushmore. While symbolic, this project’s cost—estimated at tens of millions of dollars—could be better used addressing urgent national needs.
Instead of spending public funds on this divisive project, I urge you to invest in solutions that help Americans. For example:
• Addressing food insecurity: $10 million to $50 million could feed hundreds of thousands through food banks or community programs.
• Housing the homeless: This amount could provide temporary housing for thousands of people.
• Expanding Medicaid: It could cover healthcare costs for thousands of low-income individuals.
• Investing in education and infrastructure: These funds could support schools, healthcare, and job creation.
As President Trump alleged, “Billions of dollars of fraud, waste, and abuse have already been found in our incompetently run government.” Elon Musk also pointed out the allegations of significant waste in government systems, stressing that bureaucratic inefficiencies are far too high.
Let’s use taxpayer dollars more effectively to improve the lives of everyday Americans, rather than funding unnecessary monuments.
