Dear Representative,
I am writing as your constituent to demand an end to the unauthorized war in Iran.
The House passed H.Con.Res.38 on June 3 by a vote of 215–208, with four Republicans crossing the aisle. The Senate advanced its own war powers resolution last month. The message from Congress is clear: this war was never authorized, and it must end.
The War Powers Act of 1973 is not ambiguous. The President had 60 days. That window closed months ago. The administration never sought congressional approval for what it calls Operation Epic Fury, and it has no authority to continue.
My demands are specific:
• No ground invasion of Iran. Not now, not under any pretext.
• No new forever war in the Middle East. Six American service members are already dead with no clear strategy and no end in sight.
• Honor the vote Congress already cast. Use every tool available — funding, oversight, subpoena — to force the withdrawal of US forces from unauthorized hostilities.
We are past 100 days. The economic fallout is hitting working families through rising costs and disrupted shipping. Every additional week of escalation deepens the damage to our economy and our standing in the world.
Rein in this President before he causes further harm. Enforce the Constitution’s separation of powers. End this war.
Respectfully,
A Voting Constituent
