Budget: Oppose Cuts to NSF, STEM Programs and Emerging Tech Training

Today I take pen in hand and urge you to oppose the Trump administration's proposed cuts to the National Science Foundation's (NSF) budget. These cuts include a devastating 75% reduction in funding for STEM education programs.
These cuts are ill-advised and absolutely will undermine America's economic competitiveness. Republicans love to shout loudly at everyone to get a job, but at the same time cut education and programs like these in important fields. It’s hypocritical and foolish.
As you know, the NSF has played a vital role for over 75 years in funding scientific research and critically important STEM workforce training programs, particularly at community colleges across the nation.
I firmly believe that these cuts would severely impair the ability of community colleges to offer affordable, high-quality job training in fields like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity, and other emerging technologies that power key sectors of our economy.
Instead, as a taxpayer I support robust funding for NSF's STEM education initiatives is essential for developing the skilled technical workforce that drives innovation and fortifies America's middle class.
I’ve seen it personally: The NSF's programs have proven invaluable in aligning community college curricula with industry needs and fostering public-private partnerships to prepare students for in-demand careers.
I urge you to reject these counterproductive cuts and instead bolster the NSF's vital role in STEM education and workforce development. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
