Urgent: Congressional Oversight of Musk DOGE needed

Reports that DOGE is going to convert the Social Security database from COBOL to Java in a few months are a nightmare waiting to happen. COBOL is an archaic computer language with interesting quirks, and to convert to Java or another modern computer language should take years in order to do it correctly without breaking the system. And the fact that DOGE plans to use AI to do this is even more frightening. AI systems often generate false responses, often need correcting, etc. You need to talk with a panel of knowledgeable COBOL experts about what it would take to convert a COBOL database to a different language. COBOL is still being used in many businesses and other government databases simply because the cost and time to convert to a modern computer language is a monumental task—and from what I have read by experts, AI does not have the ability to convert COBOL except for the simplest of codes. If DOGE is allowed to do this, it will break the system, and millions of social security recipients will not receive their checks. And knowing how these DOGE boys have taken a sledgehammer to other federal agencies, it is doubtful that they will leave a copy of the original COBOL program to restore the system to its original operating status. Musk has not taken an oath of office, and I don’t trust him to not abscond with funds from Social Security and the Treasury via backdoors installed by his DOGE boys. There has been absolutely no oversight on what DOGE has been doing to the various agencies’ computer systems. Furthermore, Musk & DOGE do not have the necessary approval from Congress to even be doing what they are doing. It is past time for Congress to step up and use its Constitutional Authority to put a stop to this madness.
