Rescheduling Marijuana is not enough; decriminalize and deschedule marijuana.

The recent recommendation by the Department of Health and Human Services to reschedule marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act is a step forward, but it falls short of addressing the core issues. The proposed change does not reconcile the conflict between state and federal marijuana laws, nor does it reflect the public's perception of marijuana's safety compared to other substances. The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws advocates for descheduling marijuana altogether, allowing states to regulate it without violating federal law. This approach would align with public opinion and resolve the legal conflict. Therefore, it is requested to support the descheduling and decriminalization of marijuana, promoting sensible marijuana policies that reflect the needs and views of the public.
