An open letter to the U.S. Congress

The Safe Act is a Poll Tax

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am opposed to the Save Act, which saves nothing at all. It is nothing more than a poll tax that suppresses the votes of women, minorities, and the impoverished by requiring modified identification to vote. We don’t need it, as the degree of voter fraud in the United States is well below 1%, unlikely to affect election outcomes most anywhere. This is nothing more than a voter suppression effort designed to keep voters from the polls. This will require women to modify their birth certificates if they are now married, or require others to pay for a passport just to exercise their right to vote. I understand the bill has already passed the House, and that our CO delegation voted against it, but frankly, you just didn’t work hard enough to convince your republican colleagues to do the same. Let’s hope the Senate does a better job. Vote no on the Safe Act.
