Holding Leaders Accountable: The GOP’s Complicity in Trump’s Lawlessness

I am deeply concerned about the Republican Party’s continued defense of former President Donald Trump’s illegal actions since his 2025 inauguration. Despite clear evidence of misconduct, lies, and threats to democracy, congressional Republicans have refused to hold him accountable. This raises a critical question: Should every Republican in the House and Senate who has enabled or defended his unlawful behavior face impeachment? At what point does inaction become complicity in treason?
In 2024, Rep. Andy Ogles sought to impeach Vice President Kamala Harris for not invoking the 25th Amendment against President Biden, arguing she failed in her duty. Yet now, congressional Republicans ignore Trump’s blatant abuses of power, shielding him instead of upholding the Constitution. He has appointed unqualified officials, making a mockery of governance, while his administration has engaged in illegal and unconstitutional acts.
If the GOP views impeachment as a political tool, should it not be applied consistently? Should those who enable Trump’s lawlessness be held to the same standard? The American people deserve leaders who put country over party and uphold democracy—not those who defend corruption when it serves their interests.
