Urgent Action Required: Ceasefire Violations and Accountability for Israel

As we reflect on the recent ceasefire in Gaza, which came into effect this past Sunday, we are deeply troubled by reports and video evidence showing a child being shot and killed by Israeli forces, as well as the disturbing actions of IDF snipers targeting civilians. These incidents clearly constitute violations of the ceasefire agreement, and it is imperative that Israel be held accountable for its actions. We urge you to remind and pressure Israel to fully comply with the terms of the ceasefire and adhere to international law, particularly as American taxpayers are funding the Israeli military and government. The people of Gaza and the West Bank continue to live under occupation and an apartheid system, and arrest warrants have been issued against Israeli officials by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Furthermore, under a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories is deemed unlawful. Israel's actions are increasingly isolating it on the global stage, with many viewing it as the aggressor. This situation presents a growing financial burden on U.S. taxpayers, making it essential to reconsider our ongoing support. Additionally, I strongly encourage you to support Representative Summer Lee and Senator Peter Welch’s bicameral legislation, The Sanctions and Accountability for Non-Compliance and Transparent Investigative Oversight for National Security in the West Bank.
