Why is it that the GOP currently controls the presidency, the Senate, and the House but cannot seem to get much of anything actually done?
Contrary to all the bluster and brag the Trump administration has only two legislative achievements of note: a giant, budget-busting tax cut for the wealthiest Americans, paid for by cutting health care and food assistance for the poor.
And the bill to release the Epstein Files, which passed in spite of Trump’s objections.
Sad. And quite a record to run on in the coming mid-terms. Just another case of failure, distraction, and broken promises.
But have no fear. The GOP is working on passing another major bill. Maybe it’ll have something to do with lowering prices? Or improving an economy that three-quarters of voters rate negatively?
Nope.
The GOP has decided on the SAVE Act, which requires proof of citizenship to register to vote — to address the entirely fictional problem of non-citizens voting.
A Hail Mary for saving the jobs they no longer deserve to keep. And an illustration of everything they consider important enough to spend their time doing.
Their power.
But they shouldn’t worry about their futures. The president is about to set sail on an affordability tour starting in Georgia today.

His approval rating is cratering. His billionaire class let-them-eat-cake approach is tanking America's economy. Aggravated by the slipshod tariffs he impulsively slaps on other countries. But that won't be the story he tries to sell to his audience.
But his powers of persuasion are failing. Because we have eyes. Ears. And pocketbooks that tell the story of our actual realties. And they are not anything like those of people who have never stood in a grocery check-out line or pumped their own gas. Who only know that food will always appear in front of them as required. And someone else will always pay the bill.
We’re done with the BS that is always self-serving. And tired of being used as an excuse for things we in no way agree with. Or approve of. Or want to pay for.
We’re done with every single one of you who stood, and still stand, in the shadows watching the damage done to our country, and did nothing to stop it.
