An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Declare National Emergency in Alaska due to Typhoon

7 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

I'm writing to demand the federal government declare a national emergency in Alaska to release resources to those devastated by Typhoon Halong. It's been over a week since Typhoon Halong devasted western Alaska, destroying the homes and livelihoods of over 1,400 Alaskans, many of whom are Indigenous. Alaskan Governor Dunleavy, in his request for a federal disaster declaration, said that many residents "will not be able to return to their communities for more than 18 months". My tax dollars for FEMA should be used in emergencies such as THIS, not immigration enforcement. Please get the resources to these communities IMMEDIATELY.
