I’m so tired of writing these letters. So tired and anxious and sad and frustrated writing to you to ask for more substantial action against Azerbaijan and Turkey. But not as tired and scared and worried as those living under the sounds of sirens and bombs and the threat of death each day.
Shouldn’t we humans be further ahead than this? To know and understand that violence doesn’t work, that peace and compromise and love is the only way?
My heart breaks for my Armenian friends and family. But it also breaks for the innocent Azeris who are also impacted by this battle. President Aliyev should have used all this wasted money on protecting his people from COVID19, or figured out how to move his economy forward without oil. But instead he did as many authoritarians have done, started a war to distract and launder funds. And added to all this is the global aggression of Turks and Azeris against Armenians in other countries. Please, please, please do something. Pass resolutions for sanctions on Turkey and the resumption of sanctions on Azerbaijan. These bullies will not rest until they have wiped out Armenians.
