As votes on the FY 2026 federal budget continue, you have one more chance to do the right thing for your constituents and Americans.
Oppose H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” and support provisions that remove provisions that would:
1. cut $930 billion from Medicaid
2. increase the number of people without health insurance by 11.8 million
3. slash nutrition assistance to poor families by $186 billion
4. extend 2017 tax “cuts,” which primarily benefited corporations and the wealthy but reduced rates for everyone
5. increase the deficit by at least $3.3 trillion
6. spend $45 billion for new immigration jails
7. increase the bloated budget for the Department of Defence
Democrats in Congress have shown some semblance of respect for their constituents (or self-preservation instinct for their reelection) by opposing H.R. 1.
Republicans have shown their interest in falling in line with the party and have failed to question the legitimacy of the claims of their leadership by supporting H.R. 1.
It is a shame, and a stain on our democracy, that a measure with language that plainly damages the foundation of our democracy and harms the vulnerable among us has reached this point.
Oppose H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and repair your reputation, or preserve your place in history as part of the coalition of inaction who stood by as American Democracy crumbled.
