An open letter to the U.S. Supreme Court

Stop unlawful imprisonments

4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The judicial system's role in upholding the rule of law and protecting civil liberties is vital. The recent appeals court decision to temporarily block deportations under the archaic Alien Enemies Act is a welcome move. This law, rooted in an era of blatant discrimination, threatens to strip away due process rights and subject individuals to arbitrary imprisonment based solely on their national origin during times of perceived crisis. Such sweeping powers have no place in a society built on principles of equality and justice for all. Preserving this injunction safeguards fundamental freedoms and sends a clear message that basic human rights cannot be disregarded, even in turbulent times. Allowing these deportations to proceed unchecked would undermine the very foundations of liberty and fairness cherished in the legal system.
