SB1003 - Opposing Anti-Transgender Bathroom Restrictions This legislation would mandate that individuals in government buildings utilize restrooms and other lawful sex-segregated facilities based solely on their biological sex at birth, effectively barring transgender individuals from using facilities that correspond with their gender identity. Such discriminatory policies increase the risk of harassment, violence, and trauma for an already vulnerable population without providing any substantive public safety benefits. Numerous respected organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Psychological Association, and National Sexual Violence Resource Center, have spoken out against these harmful "bathroom bills" which promote intolerance and marginalization. Rather than codifying discrimination, we should be fostering an inclusive society where all people feel safe, respected, and able to access public accommodations without fear. I urge you to reject this unethical and unnecessary proposal that runs counter to human rights principles.
