An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Calif. only)

Listen to and Support Native Americans.

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

We need to do far more to acknowledge and support the indigenous peoples of California. We have stolen so much from them and we barely acknowledge it, if at all. I was over 30 before I learned about the California genocides. Most people I talk to aren't even aware of who's land they are living on and finding detailed information is fairly difficult. We should have that information broadcasted and easily accessible everywhere. We cannot be allowed to be so ignorant of our history and of the people who still live here. To my knowledge California has never even paid reparations to them. We suffer massive destructive wildfires while simultaneously prevent people with over a thousand years of experience from managing them. They fight for basic water rights in the land stolen from them. They need a place in the California government to represent themselves with voting capability. They are fully capable advocating for themselves but we need to listen. We have done a great harm. The apology was a first step but we must also take action to address the harm we did and take steps to prevent it happening again.
