An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Prioritize policies that feed more kids, please!

While I know we’ve made a ton of progress under democrats, millions of children in the United States are still facing hunger. I’m writing to ask you to please prioritize policies that will help ensure kids and families across the country have access to the meals they need to thrive. Such legislation should: -Increase flexibility for summer meal programs, including the option for kids to eat meals off-site. -Streamline meal program regulations for community-based providers so they can feed children with one program year-round. -Provide a summer grocery card to families with low incomes to supplement household food budgets when school is not in session. -Strengthen access to and the quality of school meals, which not only boost health but support learning, too. -Increase participation of eligible families in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). And of course, I’d LOVE to see the Extended Child Tax credits Come back. Those made such a huge difference to so many people. In short, please prioritize helping kids stay fed. This really matters. Thanks.
