An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives

VOTE NO ON THE SAVE ACT

15 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am your constituent and I am appalled that Congress is considering the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. It will require in person voter registration only. Everyone will have to have a certified birth certificate/passport to present in person. This will be required if you change your address. If you are married and changed your surname then you must additionally bring a certified marriage certificate. 140 million of us do not have a passport and as many as 69 million married women who changed their name don’t have a birth certificate in hand. This legislation completely disregards the resources available to most Americans as well as the reality of American women’s lives. It is designed to disenfranchise voters and that’s not right. I strongly urge you to reject this legislation and think about the hardship and difficulties you will imposing on your constituents.
