An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Preserve the Forests—Oppose the USDA’s Mandate for Increased Logging

157 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

I am writing today to ask you to take action to OPPOSE the order from Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to increase timber quotas by 25% nationwide. The order opens up 176,000 square miles, primarily in the Western United States, to plundering and ruin by the logging companies. While the order is presented as a way to mitigate fire risks, it does not actually require any mitigation efforts. It is a wholesale cash grab for the logging companies, and a fast road to ecological ruin for the affected areas. Preserve our environment and protect the ecology. OPPOSE Rollins’ destructive order, and require the USDA to come up with a real plan to preserve the forests, rather than line the pockets of the logging companies. Thank you for your time.
