Stand up for public lands.
Please do NOT introduce into the reconciliation bill any measures that will harm, sell off, or allow exploitation of public lands.
Our public lands and national parks are precious heritage and a legacy for future generations. We are the stewards of those lands.
Public land sell offs were removed from budget reconciliation by the House. Keep them out, please!
However the House Budget bill has some damaging arrangements that will damage public lands irreparably.
Please remove measures added by the house that would eliminate critical agency funding.
Please protect the Boundary Waters.
The house rolled back protections for the Boundary Waters in
Minnesota. Remove those clauses.
The House also added provisions that would expand drilling on public lands.
Please remove these sections. Protect public lands. Do not encourage fossil fuel extraction. The harmful effects of climate change are literally burning our country.
The House bill also added clauses to eliminate commonsense oil and gas reforms in sensitive trout habitat. Restore these provisions.
I am sure you know that the National Parks are one of our best loved treasures-- and they are highly profitable.
Other public lands are no less majestic and precious. The wild places are essential for our water supply, clean air, and recreation. No budget bill should allow irreparable damage to national parks and public lands for short term gain. This would be vandalism for greed; future generations will condemn you forever; ruined stinking ground and poison water and climate catastrophes will be your monument forever if you allow the destructive measures of this budget.
