An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Kitanji Brown Jackson's Nomination

4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to you regarding the nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to fill the upcoming vacancy on the Supreme Court of the United States. With the retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer, the U.S. Senate has an important duty to fairly consider President Biden’s nomination to the court in a thorough yet timely manner. I have hope that the Senate’s confirmation process will fairly consider the impressive record of Ketanji Brown Jackson. Throughout her judicial career, Ketanji Brown Jackson has been a steadfast advocate for labor rights and criminal justice. During her tenure as a federal district court judge, she ruled against efforts to undermine workers’ bargaining rights, expedite deportations, and block key testimony during the Russia investigation. Prior to her nine years on the federal judiciary, she was a public defender and the vice chair of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, working to reform discriminatory drug sentencing practices. I believe this is an important first step in making our judiciary more representative of our nation and bringing balance to the court. I urge you to vote in favor of Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the Supreme Court without delay.
