I am writing as an outraged constituent. Recently, Elon Musk referred to federal aid recipients as the "parasite class," mocking Americans who rely on programs we have spent our lives funding through taxes. This is hypocritical coming from a billionaire whose businesses have received at least $18 billion in federal contracts (Atlanta Black Star).
I have worked hard, paid taxes, and contributed to Social Security, expecting it to be there when needed. Now, people like Musk want to take from Social Security while calling us parasites. It is appalling that someone enriched by taxpayer money wants to dismantle the very programs that help working Americans survive.
Representative Becca Balint responded, stating, "I don't think that my parents, because they're on Social Security, are parasites. I don't think my neighbor who is on Medicaid is a parasite" (Instagram). Musk’s remarks and actions directly threaten hardworking Americans, and I urge you to stand against this attack on our social safety net.
I cannot work harder, live cheaper, or sacrifice more just so the wealthy can accumulate even more. I need to know how you plan to protect Social Security and prevent billionaires like Musk from endangering Americans' financial security. We were promised fair treatment for our contributions, yet we are being insulted and denied the benefits we have earned.
I urge you to take immediate action to safeguard Social Security and oppose any efforts to defund or privatize it for the wealthy’s benefit. The American people need representatives who will fight for them now.
