An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Covid-released Prisoners

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I’m writing you today to encourage you to pressure the DOJ & Attny Gen Garland & Pres Biden to allow the prisoners who were released to home arrest due to the pandemic, stay out of prison (for all those demonstrating they are living a crime free life). Making those folks return to prison is cruel and unusual punishment. Never mind that we lock up folks who’s crimes largely impact a small number of people (petty, blue collar/poverty & drug crimes) for much longer than those who’s crimes impact hundreds (white collar, major financial theft). We must do all we can to reform the US criminal justice system which is at its heart a racist system built to continue the oppression of black and brown people.
