Arming Israel is Criminal. Support Sanders’ Joint Resolutions of Disapproval Now

I am writing with an urgent demand for you to support and sign Bernie Sanders’s Joint Resolutions of Disapproval. Given Israel’s blatant targeting of civilians, the withholding of humanitarian aid, and the recent horrific killing of four water engineers—who were en route to repair critical infrastructure and were traveling in a clearly marked vehicle after coordination with Israeli authorities—it is beyond clear that the U.S. can no longer provide military support to Israel.
The killing of these engineers, who were only attempting to ensure access to clean water, exposes the indiscriminate nature of Israel’s assault on Gaza. These are not isolated incidents. Hospitals, schools, and civilians have been targeted in violation of international humanitarian law. And yet, the U.S. continues to arm Israel while these atrocities take place, enabling further war crimes.
To compound these egregious acts, recent leaked U.S. documents confirm Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons. As you are likely aware, under the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), it is illegal to provide military aid to any country that possesses nuclear weapons. This means that the United States is in direct violation of international law by continuing to fund Israel’s military, let alone supplying them with the tools to carry out such brutal attacks on civilians.
This situation is dire. The atrocities must stop, and so must our complicity. I call on you to stand on the right side of history and take immediate action to end all U.S. military assistance to Israel. At the very least, you must support Bernie Sanders’s Joint Resolutions of Disapproval and make clear that the U.S. will not tolerate the continued slaughter of civilians or support a nation that violates the very international treaties we claim to uphold.
Failure to act now is a choice to be complicit in war crimes and nuclear threats. The world is watching, and so are your constituents. I will not support any representative who chooses to continue backing this unconscionable violence.
