Billionaire Giveaways: Why Trump's Admin Fails the 1776 Test

When the Founders wrote the Declaration of Independence, they were furious about economic tyranny. They explicitly condemned King George "for imposing Taxes on us without our Consent" and using the financial power of the Crown to enrich his loyalists while draining resources from local communities. Today, this administration is bringing that exact royal squeeze right back to working Americans. One year ago, the "One Big Beautiful Bill" was signed into law. It uses the tax code and federal budget as a tool to reward ultra-wealthy donors while forcing everyday families to pay the price. The administration acts like federal tax dollars belong to the White House to distribute to their friends, rather than serving the public good. The Declaration of Independence is clear: government exists to serve the economic well-being of the people, not to enrich a favored few. Look at how their agenda copies the old royal playbook: - King Rule #1: Cut Taxes for the Top, Squeeze Everyone Else. The Declaration fought a system where regular citizens paid for the extravagance of the ruling class. Under this administration's policies, middle-income families face higher overall burdens while corporations have saved $234 billion this year alone. Rather than trickling down to working communities, these tax savings have fueled an unprecedented surge at the top: in the sixteen months since the 2024 election, the collective fortune of America's billionaires has grown by nearly $2 trillion—a 30% increase concentrated primarily among the nation's top fifteen richest individuals. - King Rule #2: Use Public Funds as a Political Weapon. The Founders hated when the King withheld resources from colonies that refused to bow to royal demands. Today, federal agencies have threatened and cut billions in vital public funding—including child care and infrastructure support—from states and cities purely to enforce political compliance. - King Rule #3: Protect Corporate Monopolies Over Local Needs. Just like King George granted special charters to royal trading monopolies, this administration rolls back regulations for Wall Street while stripping basic health protections from an estimated 16 million Americans. These are severe costs everyday families cannot roll back the way corporations roll back their tax liabilities. We are a democracy, not a kingdom. The true job of the federal government is to invest in American families and local communities—not to siphon public wealth to billionaires or use tax dollars for political leverage. I demand that you immediately stop rigging the economy for corporate donors, protect essential public investments, and remember that public funds belong to the American people.
