As a parent and a school teacher, I tell my children and my students that the Golden Rule can be applied for a positive outcome in almost every situation. Knowing the future has its eyes on me, I try very hard to be a good citizen, a good neighbor, and a good example. Just in case you weren’t using your STARR tested inference skills just then, by “good citizen” I mean “CONSISTENT and educated voter” since 1988.
School boards, mayor, dog catcher, and state/federal elections, I study the ballot, do the research, watch debates, listen to candidates in town halls, then cast my ballot. I contribute to the candidates financially and donate my time. Nobody elected me to the position of “Citizen of a Democratic Republic”. I was born a United States citizen to US citizens, who were born to US citizens, and so on for at least four generations. I take my role as citizen very seriously.
Please be aware, neither myself, nor my school teacher husband of 33 years, has ever voted for you. Nor will we ever vote for you. However, we are the very demographic you should be counting as supporters. Homeowners, tax payers with clean criminal background, putting two kids through out-of-state, private colleges where they earn Deans List honors each semester; we’re even hetero caucasians. We are everything you claim to be and want in your country, but you don’t represent who we are in your country.
Would your parents and children be proud of your actions in office? Can you say that you’ve made every effort to apply the Golden Rule in your elected position? Have you studied every bill before casting your ballot in Congress? I know you know right from wrong, but your behavior since 2016 isn’t something you or I should be proud of in our role as citizens.
Do better.
