The U.S. Must Stop Funding Genocide in Wake of UN Finding

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action in response to the United Nations’ recent findings that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
On September 18, 2025, the UN Commission of Inquiry concluded that Israeli forces are carrying out acts that meet the legal definition of genocide—including killing, causing serious bodily or mental harm, and deliberately inflicting conditions intended to destroy the population. The commission found that genocidal intent was the only reasonable conclusion based on the totality of evidence.
Whether or not U.S. law currently imposes an absolute obligation to halt military aid to Israel is still debated. But there should be no debate about our moral responsibility. The United States
must not continue funding and arming a campaign the United Nations and much of the world now recognize as genocidal.
At a minimum, I urge you to:
• Demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire,
• Support the suspension of all arms transfers and military assistance to Israel,
• Ensure full U.S. compliance with our obligations under the Genocide Convention.
To continue business as usual in the face of these findings is to be complicit. The world is watching—and history will, too.
