In recent years, we have seen the erosion of vital programs that once fought foreign corruption and influence in our elections and political processes. Under the previous administration, the shutdown of task forces dedicated to combating foreign corruption—including the Foreign Corruption Task Force—left critical gaps in our national security framework. As you are aware, foreign actors can undermine the very essence of our democratic system by using corruption, financial manipulation, and covert influence to sway political outcomes. The ability of foreign powers to corrupt the decision-making of our elected officials—or worse, interfere in the electoral process itself—undermines the trust that Americans place in their government. Whether through bribery, cyber-attacks, or attempts to influence policy through illicit financial means, we are at a crossroads where action is needed more than ever. It is not just a partisan issue—it is an issue that affects all Americans. The overwhelming majority of Americans value honesty and loyalty, and they want leaders who hold these values as well. We all want leaders who follow the law, who put the interests of our nation above any personal or political concerns, and who are resolute in protecting our democracy from external interference. No matter how we voted, we share a fundamental desire for transparency, accountability, and trust in our institutions. We must insist that those who hold power uphold the laws that protect our nation from foreign corruption and the influence of external forces. I urge you to take a stand for the American people and restore or strengthen the efforts to combat foreign corruption. Support the re-establishment and bolstering of task forces and initiatives aimed at protecting us from foreign influence, such as the Foreign Corruption Task Force. We need these vital programs to safeguard our democracy and ensure that America remains free from undue external influence. Let us show the world that no matter what our political views may be, we stand united against corruption and external interference.
