Restore Law and Humanity: Investigate ICE’s Cruel and Unchecked Powers
32 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!
What we’re seeing from ICE is not just enforcement gone wild—it’s a direct threat to our democracy and rule of law. A new memo lets agents deport people to third countries with as little as six hours’ notice, bypassing meaningful review. Lawmakers are being blocked from inspecting facilities that detain individuals, even when conditions are shameful and dangerous. These are not errors. They are deliberate tactics that strip away oversight and stoke fear.
Consider the growing dossier of abuse. In 2025 alone, ICE reports show over 500 credible cases of mistreatment in detention centers: physical abuse, denial of medical care, unsanitary conditions, and separation of children from parents. Pregnant women have suffered miscarriages in custody. Children with severe medical needs were denied care. These are not anonymous accounts. These are emergencies that demand congressional intervention. If these aren’t grounds for hearings, what is?
It is up to Congress to enforce accountability. Immediately and publicly demand that ICE follow the law. Deportations must include due process and legal review. Oversight of detention centers must be restored and strengthened, not delayed or obstructed. Support legislation that protects basic human rights and ensures fair treatment, regardless of immigration status. Without action, we are complicit in condoning cruelty and chaos.
We must defend democracy, uphold human dignity, and ensure our nation stands for justice, not tyranny. Silence is surrender.
