Stop CBP/govt surveilling Americans using airline data—violates our rights!

Urgent: Protect Americans’ Privacy—Stop Airline Data Sales to DHS & Government Agencies I am writing as your constituent to express my deep concern regarding recent revelations that U.S. airlines United, Delta, and American are surveilling all domestic travel and supplying our detailed passenger data—searchable by name, flight itinerary, or credit card number—to federal agencies like ICE, HSI, and Customs and Border Protection, all with zero meaningful transparency, oversight, or public consent. This practice amounts to a warrantless, backdoor method of government surveillance that circumvents our constitutional privacy protections and undermines public trust. Worse, contractual secrecy clauses forbid agencies from even revealing the source of this information—removing any transparency whatsoever and eroding accountability. I urge you to take immediate action to end this violation of Americans’ rights by: • Investigating and holding hearings on the sale and use of sensitive travel data by both airlines and government agencies • Supporting or introducing legislation that requires meaningful consent for the sharing of consumer data with third parties, especially government bodies • Mandating full transparency and public reporting whenever government agencies purchase or otherwise acquire bulk commercial data on U.S. citizens. Every American deserves to travel without fear that routine activities will be mined for surveillance purposes.
