Protect LGBTQ+ rights

This Pride Month, I am writing to urge that you use your position to outspokenly protect LGBTQ+ rights, which are at such threat from the Trump agenda and Project 2025. In particular we call upon the party to speak out and reclaim the narrative on transgender rights. Democrats have largely ceded the debate and bowed to disinformation about and attacks on transgender people, a tiny minority who lack the number to stand up to right wing attacks on their very existence. The Democratic Party and leadership must stand up for transgender people’s right to exist, right to health care, and right to full participation in society including military service and sports. The rights of all LGBTQ+ individuals are a primary target of the Trump agenda, and trans rights are where they are starting but not where they will stop. We do not need the votes to reframe the narrative, but we will never have the votes if we do not reframe the narrative.
