URGENT: Reassert Congressional Authority and Stop the "Washington War Machine"
15 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!
I am writing to demand that Congress immediately reassert its constitutional authority by supporting the War Powers Resolution regarding the conflict in Iran.
The American people are being presented with a narrative detached from reality. While the President touts a "15-point peace plan," Tehran denies these talks are even happening. Furthermore, the administration’s primary envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, have been rejected by Iranian leadership, leaving us in a dangerous diplomatic vacuum.
I urge you to consider the warnings raised by Rep. Nancy Mace regarding this war of unforced error:
- The Intelligence Gap: Rep. Mace has noted a "deeply troubling gap" between the military objectives shared with the public and the classified briefings given to the House Armed Services Committee. Congress cannot authorize a war based on inconsistent justifications.
- The "Washington War Machine": We must resist the influence of hawks like Senator Lindsey Graham, who seek to turn Iran into another Iraq. Seizing islands or deploying ground troops for oil is a failed foreign policy that ignores the lessons of the last twenty years.
- Long-Term Security Risk: This war is radicalizing another generation of Iranians. The longer this continues, and the more lopsided our peace terms remain, the higher the risk of blowback. Even the strongest military cannot protect us from the long-term terrorist threats created by an aggressive and failed diplomatic strategy.
I am calling on you to:
1. Vote YES on the War Powers Resolution to cease all unauthorized hostilities.
2. Publicly demand an honest accounting of the "15-point plan" and why our diplomacy has failed so thoroughly.
3. Reject any funding for ground operations or the seizure of Iranian territory.
It is time for Congress to take control of this situation before the "Washington War Machine" breaks our foreign policy beyond repair.
