HB28 - Opposing Anti-Trans Discrimination in School Sports The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act (HB28) cruelly discriminates against transgender youth by barring students assigned male at birth from participating in girls' sports teams, regardless of their gender identity. Existing policies already ensure fair competition based on hormone levels and recognized gender identity. HB28 serves no valid purpose beyond perpetuating bigotry and exclusion. Schools following this misguided law open themselves to legal liability for violating Title IX's prohibition on sex discrimination. Rather than ostracizing vulnerable students, we must cultivate athletic environments promoting equal opportunity, dignity, and respect for all.
