Defending Maine's sovereignty from federal overreach and coercion

Maine's sovereignty is under direct assault from the federal government's unconstitutional overreach and threats of funding cuts for noncompliance. We must take immediate and decisive action to safeguard our state's autonomy and self-governance. First, we need to codify Maine as a "State Sovereignty Jurisdiction" through legislation, blocking enforcement of federal orders that contradict state law and prohibiting cooperation with unconstitutional federal actions. Expanding "State Nullification" laws will formally declare federal overreach null and void within our borders, prohibiting interference in core areas like education, healthcare, and economic policy. Creating a state legal defense fund will ensure we have the resources to mount vigorous legal challenges against any defunding attempts or unconstitutional federal actions. Economically, we must cut off Washington's leverage by fast-tracking the Maine Public Bank, reclaiming control over our revenue streams, and enforcing financial noncompliance with any federal retaliation. This will break our dependence on federal funding and allow us to operate independently. On the legal front, we must wage a campaign of lawfare – flooding courts with challenges to federal overreach, tying up policies in state courts, and making federal interference prohibitively expensive through endless litigation. The time for half-measures is over. Maine has always led in asserting its sovereignty, from rejecting REAL ID to implementing ranked-choice voting. Now we must lead again by building a model for true state independence that other states can follow. We cannot kneel to this unconstitutional federal coercion. Maine must fight to defend its sovereignty and self-rule as the Constitution intended.
