WHY STAY IN TEXAS?

Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. As a 5-g Texan, I had an epiphany today. I think my state, whom my ancestors fought and died for, wants me gone. Our Republican leadership is doing everything in its power to drive out those of us who want decency and common sense in our society. We want to be able to exercise our constitutional right to vote. You are trying to take that away. We now lead the country in voting restrictions. We want to be safe in our places of employment, our churches, our streets. To be protected from gun violence. Instead, anyone will soon be able to have a gun, without a permit. Instead of addressing the root cause of gun violence, we will now receive what is similar to an Amber alert to let us know if there is an active shooter in the area. This is the equivalent of a cancer warning on a pack of cigarettes. We know what causes the cancer, but instead of banning the cause, we will instead just be warned to duck and cover. I am not comforted. Our Republican leadership also seems to want the populace to be as ignorant as possible. And to be uninsured. And to take away a woman’s right to choose. I feel like we might be approaching the Gilead of the Handmaid’s Tale. I guess you’ll keep getting businesses to move here. But you sure are encouraging the more enlightened among the population to consider leaving their home state. I never thought I would ever consider that. I used to be offended with out-of-state friends and family criticizing our state. Now I see their point.
