The practice of separating immigrant families and using children as a coercive tactic to pressure undocumented immigrants to leave the United States is unacceptable and inhumane. The report of at least nine cases where parents have been separated from their children after refusing to comply with deportation orders is deeply concerning. Separating children from their parents causes severe psychological trauma and violates fundamental human rights. This draconian measure appears to be a targeted revival of the controversial family separation policy from the previous administration, which sparked global outrage. Subjecting vulnerable families fleeing persecution to such cruel treatment is antithetical to American values and principles of compassion. Children should never be used as bargaining chips or tools of coercion. I urge you to take immediate action to halt this egregious practice and reunite separated families. Pursuing deportations through humane and lawful means is understandable, but inflicting mental anguish on innocent children is unconscionable. America must uphold its moral standing and treat all individuals, regardless of immigration status, with dignity and respect for human rights. Protecting children and family unity should be a paramount concern.
