An open letter to the President

FCC Fairness Doctrine needed for TV, Radio, newspapers

61 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

The FCC Fairness Doctrine of 1949 was repealed in 1987, and it’s been a catastrophe ever since. Without fundamental fairness rules, we have seen the growth of hateful and dishonest radio and tv broadcasts like Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. The Federal Communications Commission fairness doctrine needs to be reinstated. It would require licensed television and radio broadcasters to present both sides when discussing political or social issues. We need fundamental ways to prevent dishonesty, disrespect and hatred on radio, TV and social media.
