The US Must Stand with the Iranian People Diplomatically, Not Use Force

As Bernie Sanders recently stated, the people of Iran are demanding democracy, freedom and economic justice, and their government is slaughtering thousands of its own citizens as a result of the protests sweeping the nation. The United States must support the Iranian people. We must join the Iranian people in demanding: the immediate end of government violence against protesters, an immediate end to the media and internet blackout and censorship currently in place,and internationally supervised free elections so that the people of Iran can determine their own future. U.S. military intervention is not the answer. It failed in the past and will fail again. The United States must stand with the Iranian people, not over them. We must support the Iranian people by not becoming like the Iranian government- Trump threatened the Insurrection Act against Minneapolis, and if he starts killing our citizens with our own troops he will be no better than the Ayatollah.
