Impeach Harmeet Dhillon - Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights

I urge you in the strongest possible terms to bring impeachment proceedings against Harmeet Dhillon of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division. Her anti-civil rights stance has laid the path for many, many abuses of power by the Justice Department, DHS, ICE, and the entire war in People if Color in the US under Trump. As an immigrant herself, she is obviously working grudges and has an authoritarian leaning. She is fundamentally unqualified to enforce federal civil rights laws. Dhillon's misunderstanding of basic civil rights law allows her - in her own mind. - to ignore civil rights. A dangerous and unlawful blindspot in her brain. She’s not normal, and must not be treated as such. As we marked the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the division can no longer be led by someone who deliberately ignored or misunderstands its core provisions. Her record on voting rights is equally troubling. Dhillon filed approximately 10 unsuccessful lawsuits against California's voting systems, including baseless claims about the motor voter program despite an audit finding no widespread voter fraud. She has called the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act a "power grab" and supports documentary proof of citizenship requirements that civil rights organizations oppose as solutions in search of a problem. Dhillon has been a weirdly demented and vocal opponent of transgender people, bringing litigation attacking transgender youth and those who support them. When asked about Target's goal to hire 20 percent more Black employees, she called it illegal without understanding the legal framework for diversity initiatives. She calls herself a "lawyer for the pro-life movement" and has expressed disdain for reproductive autonomy, raising serious concerns about enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances. The Civil Rights Division requires a leader committed to protecting all Americans. Send the message: Impeach, resign and be prosecuted for civil rights and indeed human rights, and unconstitutional behavior. Who knows what other crimes she is concealing?
