Pass LD 1971

I’m calling on you to sign LD 1971 into law. As mass immigration enforcement and deportation efforts are ramping up in Maine, we need to protect our law-abiding immigrant community. LD 1971 puts in place common-sense guardrails to ensure that state and local law enforcement aren’t stepping outside of their roles to assist the federal government with their mass deportation agenda. We do not need local law enforcement needlessly inquiring into immigration status and then handing people over to immigration officers at minor traffic stops based on their immigration status alone. This is Maine’s moral moment. I ask you to please use your power to protect all Maine people by signing this bill.
