So we finally decided enough Palestinians have died that we're embarrassed enough to let the UN call for a ceasefire? Even though those words are empty because we're sending Israel all the ammunition that's being used in this genocide? Even though we are still participating in RIMPAC, which is hugely harmful to the already burning planet, not to mention an act of premeditated terror on those who will suffer and die under the force of those weapons being displayed there? Even though we are still training our civilian police forces alongside the IDF, both in Israel and in our Cop Cities here in the states, despite widespread civilian, citizen protest against them? Do you understand the dystopia under which the average American is living today? Do you understand the cognitive dissonance, when we can see our medical bills climb and our libraries close while our tax money is being used to kill our neighbors now and make the future of our planet itself hostile for human life? Do you see the climbing numbers of depression, anxiety, self harm, and careless violence among youth and young adults as in any way connected? The hugely disproportionate suffering among most of us while the most wealthy escape actually participating in society through wage theft and tax evasion? The veneer of American exceptionalism is like the portrait of Dorien Gray, and we are nauseated by it. Are you prepared to lose your seats in November, regardless of the actual outcome of the vote, because of the normalization of violent, insurrectionist rhetoric that has been allowed to flourish unchallenged for so long? Do not hold back on doing the good things just because you want to hold them over us as incentive to vote for you again.
