I expect you and your colleagues in Congress to demand that ICE release Sayed Naser Noori IMMEDIATELY!! He is a hero for America and imprisoning him is an abomination.
Naser was detained in San Diego last week. He supported the US Army for three years in Afghanistan, as a translator and as a logistics contractor. Like all Afghan allies, their lives and the lives of their families are under threats of death by the Taliban. In fact, the Taliban murdered Naser’s brother at a wedding in 2023, and abducted his father. He fled the country and entered legally using the CBP One app, and he has an asylum case in progress. He is in the USA LEGALLY, having entered by following proper procedures in 2024, and was attending an immigration hearing as required.
We should be honoring and thanking him, and making every effort to ensure his safety and opportunity for success in America, but instead DHS is lying about his contributions to the American war effort and imprisoning him at taxpayer expense. As a 30-year Air Force veteran with many friends and relatives who served in Afghanistan, I am disgusted and outraged at the maltreatment of Naser (and probably others like him). Congress needs to reverse this abhorrently dishonorable act and release this hero NOW!
Please work quickly with your colleagues to create a bipartisan resolution to protect Afghan allies in the USA, and require DHS to honor legal entry via the CBP app. The stated goal of the administration is to deport criminals, yet DHS is carelessly wasting taxpayer money at an alarming rate to kidnap and imprison noncriminal LEGAL immigrants. In the name of fiscal responsibility, democracy and the Constitution, and the besmirched honor of the United States, I implore you to use Congressional power to release this man and any other (noncriminal) Afghans who risked their lives for America immediately! Ideally, the resolution would also codify protected status for Afghan immigrants as well since the Taliban is an obvious threat, but as a minimum set Naser free!
