NO on Republican dirty CR, NO on cloture, NO to Schumer

Voting YES on cloture and passing the Trump/Musk continuing resolution, as Leader Schumer announced he plans to do, is a fatal error for our Democracy. Please stand strong by blocking this CR at every stage - vote NO on cloture - and persuade Senator Schumer to reverse course and block it as well. This poison-pill CR will codify Trump and Musk’s unlawful rampage through the government and sabotage ongoing court cases against them, rather than simply delay them (and delays would be offset to a degree by reserves, in the event of a shutdown). AFGE, the largest union of federal employees, said this week that a shutdown is preferable to this CR. Seven States Attorneys General from Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, and Vermont issued a joint statement against it. House Democrats in swing districts risked their careers by nearly unanimously opposing it. Conversely, JD Vance told his party to vote for it, and Trump threatened to primary Rep. Massie for opposing it. Their position, with stocks tanking, is much weaker than they make it out to be. Many Democrats in the Senate spoke out, after much voter urging, about how much of a poison pill this CR is, and/or how Trump and Musk are already shutting down the government with Republican acquiescence, and committed to blocking it. Was this all just theatre, like Talking Points Memo’s now all but confirmed report that Schumer intended all along to trade cloture power for a show vote of opposition to avert a shutdown - while lying to the world by saying Republicans didn’t have the votes for cloture? The Democratic Party will never, ever live down passage of this resolution with their support - but everyone is behind you if you fight and it comes to a Republican shutdown. It’s on them if they don’t want to affirm the law and come back from vacation to vote on a truly clean CR. Is Democracy at stake or not?
